The National Public Complaints and Proposals Administration (NPCPA) has rolled out regulations to strengthen and improve field inspections to better handle petitions, officials of the administration said Friday.
The administration has launched 15 rounds of field inspections to settle petitions since 2013 and achieved great outcome, the officials said.
Petitioning, also known as "letters and calls," is China's administrative system for hearing public complaints and grievances. In China, petitioners generally see injustices in areas including land acquisition, education and environmental protection, among others.
The regulations stressed on the planning of the field inspections and clarified the division of responsibilities among different offices.
Each team must provide detailed reports with briefings, results and recommendations of the field inspection, according to the regulations.
Some procedures have been reduced in order to relieve the pressure on local officials, according to the regulations.
The NPCPA has also highlighted the importance of follow-up supervision in the regulations to ensure that problems were fully resolved.
The inspection results and follow-up information will be made public online, said the regulations.
