Shenzhen decorates parks and roads to celebrate Spring Festival

All major parks in Shenzhen have finished their preparations for the approaching Spring Festival holiday beginning this weekend.

Statistics show 22 city parks have arranged flowers covering a total area of 74,500 square meters, and hung about 15,000 lanterns to increase the festival atmosphere.

Lianhuashan Park, known as the "best guest room in the city”, has hung over 7,400 lanterns of various kinds.

In Renmin Park, a Chinese rose flower show is being held Jan 22-Feb 8, exhibiting more than 300 kinds of Chinese roses in four themed gardens covering an area of nearly 40,000 square meters.

During the flower show, there will also be some cultural and entertainment activities.

In the Shenzhen Bay Park, a sea of verbena covering an area of 12,000 square meters, and a display of spider flowers spread over about 4,600 square meters are blooming.

The subway station near the Shenzhen Bay Park, and the nearby Beiwanlu Port, and Hunqing Square have all been decorated with flowers to improve visitors’ traveling experience.

In the square facing the south gate of the Shenzhen International Garden and Flower Expo Park, a big flower bed covering an area of about 4,000 square meters has been built. And by the park’s west gate, there is a 200-sq-m flower bed depicting black-faced spoonbills, migrant birds that winter in Shenzhen.

Apart from the parks, all major transport arteries in the city are decorated with flowers with a total area of 19,930 square meters.
