Beijing is waiving all highway tolls starting on Feb. 17 until the novel coronavirus outbreak is over, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport.

During this period, all toll stations will keep open and allow the vehicles to pass quickly. For vehicles that fall in manual toll collection system (MTC), there is no need to get a paper ticket to pass. Electronic toll collection (ETC) service for vehicles is also now free. Whenever a toll is charged for any reason, refund will be processed. In addition, vehicles carrying fresh agricultural products are free to enter and leave the toll station without booking or inspection.

All trucks entering toll stations still need to be weighed. Overloaded trucks are not allowed to pass. All the lanes of toll station will be open during rush hour. Staff and strict management will put into place to ensure that emergencies are dealt with right away and vehicles pass through quickly.

In the service area, stringent measures will be taken to prevent and control the outbreak, such as disinfection and body temperature checks. Efforts will be made to ensure there is enough food and oil supplies.

Beijing’s traffic department will regularly publish real-time traffic conditions, weather, traffic control measures, and other information on its social media platform Weibo (@Jiaotong Beijing), mobile app, and Beijing Traffic Radio.
