The Seventh Beijing Ecology & Environment Culture Week will kick off as an online event on June 1, the Beijing Municipal Ecology and Environment Bureau announced at a press conference on Thursday.

With the theme of "Taking Actions for a Beautiful China -- Working Together to Build a Beautiful Beijing," this year's event will consist of an array of public welfare activities, such as interaction with the Beijing eco-environmental ambassador, photography on the subject of environmental governance and protection, online exhibition, announcing results of an environmental protection contest, a special interview on ecological progress, and the online opening ceremony of environmental protection facilities.

During the week, 52 environmental protection facilities and sewage and garbage treatment facilities in the capital will open to the public online. The public can learn about the daily operation of environmental protection facilities through videos, live broadcasts, pictures, and texts, and understand how to deal with garbage and recycle waste. A mini-program named "Ecological Environmental Protection Knowledge Challenge" will also be launched, inviting the public to answer questions and compete for prizes.

The first Beijing Ecology & Environment Culture Week was launched in 2014. Since then, the weeklong public participation event has been held annually from June 1 to 7 in conjunction with World Environment Day on June 5. The event has included initiatives and calls for taking joint actions to govern and protect ecologies and the environment, as well as the promotion of the green lifestyle.
