Beijing has issued a warning for flash floods, as heavy rainfall is forecast to hit the city.

From 8 p.m. Thursday to 8 p.m. Friday, Beijing's suburban districts of Fangshan, Mentougou, Changping, Yanqing, Huairou, and Miyun will have high risks of flash floods, according to a warning issued by the Beijing Water Authority and the Beijing Meteorological Service.

Most of Beijing will see thunderstorms and downpours from Thursday night to 11 a.m. Friday, according to the Beijing Meteorological Service. Hailstones and strong winds are likely to accompany the heavy rainfall.

Authorities have asked related departments and districts to enhance monitoring and issue timely warning, so that those in danger can be evacuated immediately in case the flash floods strike.
