MyGenostics Inc, the nucleic acid testing agency designated by the Beijing Municipal Health Commission, announced on July 2 that it had boosted the testing capacity of its Beijing laboratory in Shunyi district to 100,000 samples per day after a series of upgrades.

The laboratory is located in the Airport Industrial Zone B of Houshayu Town, Shunyi district. Facing a sudden increase in the demand for testing, the company independently developed a range of automated systems and equipment. These devices run through multiple links in testing, making it possible to collect information online, process samples, conduct experiments and testing, and issue test reports automatically, explained Wu Jian, chief scientist and chairman of MyGenostics Inc.

During the information collection step, contactless information registration and management system have effectively increased the detection efficiency and helped prevent cross-infection. Those who wish to take the nucleic acid test no longer have to fill in their personal details using pen and paper, and can instead simply scan a QR code to input their information.

After the test personnel receives the sample, they only need to scan the QR code on the test tube to obtain the information, thereby greatly boosting the overall efficiency. The management system will automatically send out the reports after the results are issued, which test takers can check via the company's official WeChat account.

During the testing process, an automated sample adding instrument has become a useful addition for testing personnel. In the past, staff needed to place the samples in the designated locations within the testing area. With the help of the automated sample adding instrument, it is now possible to place 92 samples in just 10 minutes.

"We developed the automated sample adding instrument independently this year, immediately after the outbreak of COVID-19. Its efficiency is six times higher than the original manual method," Wu Jian explained.
