About 60,000 people, including Chinese national legislators and senior officials of local-level legislatures, attended an online workshop on the country's newly-adopted Civil Code.

The two-day session ended on Tuesday and was held by the General Office of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee and the Legislative Affairs Commission of the NPC Standing Committee.

Some officials and staff of legislative agencies at all levels also attended the session online.

During the session, officials from the Legislative Affairs Commission's offices of civil law and economic law gave lectures on topics that covered both the civil code as a whole, and the code's six parts on real rights, contracts, personality rights, marriage and family, inheritance, and tort liabilities, with a focus on the main contents and innovations in the code.

Out of anti-epidemic considerations, the session was held online, and the videos of the lectures will be available at an online study platform to reach a wider audience among legislators and relevant personnel nationwide.
