Luohu Party chief Luo Yude, and Luohu government head Liu Zhiyong led their respective delegations to visit the People's Liberation Army's barracks in the district on July 24 for an advance celebration of Army Day falling on August 1 every year.

Qiu Xueping and Chen Longxing, two senior officials of the district, also took part in the routine annual visit.

Luo visited the Luohu base of the PLA garrison protecting the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the PLA garrison command of Shenzhen.

They extended best wishes on behalf of the Luohu Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Luohu district government and expressing appreciation of the army's positive contribution to the district's economic development and social stability.

Luo said that, over a long period, the Luohu Committee of the CPC and the district government had shown strong concern and always supported the construction and development of the army.

The army and Luohu district have promoted a good tradition of supporting the army and giving preferential treatment to the families of military personnel and martyrs, supporting the government and cherishing the people.

Luo said the district would continue to support the army's construction as always, seek to resolve practical problems within its capacity, and unite tightly with the PLA.

During his visit to the third squad of the People's Armed Police Corps of Guangdong province, and the No 31024 troops of the PLA in Luohu, Liu paid tributes to all on behalf of the district government.

He said Luohu was currently in a crucial stage of its development, and the armed police and the PLA played a crucial role in actively engaging in Luohu's economic construction, urban management and social governance.

He said that the district government would continue to implement all policies to provide preferential treatment to families of troops and martyrs, helping and promote balanced development of Luohu's economic development and national defense construction.

Last year, Luohu founded a bureau of veteran affairs, greatly enhancing its ability to provide customized services to retired soldiers.

According to the Luohu government, it will channel more social resources to enhance its services and assistances to serving and retired personnel and their families as well as the families of martyrs, and further improve the efficiency of work related to veteran affairs.
