A light-up activity was held in Luohu on the night of Nov. 20 to celebrate World Children's Day in Shenzhen.

The purpose of the activity is to show Shenzhen's commitment to protecting children's rights and resolve in building itself into a child-friendly city, and encouraging the whole of society to care for the children.

Luohu Party chief Luo Yude, officials from departments related to caring for children at various levels and the China branch of the United Nations Children's Fund, and officials of relevant departments in Luohu took part in the activity.

A wind instrument band of Hongling Primary School and a chorus of the Luoling Foreign Language Experimental School performed for the activity, during which 20 children from Luohu and 20 children who live in Luohu and go to school in Hong Kong pressed the button lighting up many landscape buildings of Shenzhen in blue light, an epitome color of children's friendship, to remind the society of caring for the children.

Luohu attaches great significance to the building of a child-friendly society. Not only infrastructural facilities are constructed for the convenient use by children, but also more government-funded kindergartens and parks are founded and renovated.

Luohu has also established the city's first adolescent protection center, and rolled out regulations on protecting adolescents from harms, showing special cares to children from low-income families and with disabilities.
