Construction of major projects in Beijing's sub-center enters new stage

Beijing's sub-center accelerated building its three landmark buildings. The underground construction of the theater project has been completed, which sets a milestone for entering a new stage of the project.
According to the plan, the three major projects of a theater, a library, and a museum are expected to be completed by the end of 2022. The buildings are scheduled to be unveiled by the end of 2021.
The main structures and supporting facilities of these three landmark buildings are now under construction. About 5,000 construction workers from six construction units are working on the projects, and the number of workers is expected to surpass 8,000, according to a project manager of Beijing Investment Group.
The three landmarks are located in the northwestern part of the new park in Tongzhou district, which has been dubbed the "Green Heart of the City." When completed, the facilities will provide citizens with integrated services covering artistic experiences, exhibition, performance, and entertainment, in order to meet their needs for cultural activities.
The capping off of the main structures of the theater project is planned to take place in the first quarter of 2021.
In addition, supporting facilities including the underground integrated transportation hub are also under construction. The hub will be composed of multiple transportation lines, covering a total underground construction area of 49,000 square meters. The hub will feature high-quality and integrated services covering stores, restaurants, subway, energy security, cultural elements, family entertainment, art classes, and shared parking. The three landmark buildings, supporting facilities, and transportation lines will be connected with one another through underground pathways.
The construction of the major projects also values the protection of historical and cultural relics, including preserving the ancient course of the Grand Canal, which provides citizens a way to learn about the history and culture of Tongzhou.
