China has convicted 1,951 people for involvement in major cases of organized crime, authorities said on Friday.
A total of 4,731 people are under investigation for gang-related corruption and for sheltering organized crime, according to the national office against organized crime.
More than 125 billion yuan (about 19 billion U.S. dollars) of assets involved in the 111 cases listed by the office were sealed up, seized, or frozen, it said.
The office targeted 5,824 key suspects at-large since November last year. So far, 98 percent, or 5,727 fugitives, were captured.
Among the 111 major cases, 51 have been closed while 57 are still in the trial phase.
