The 2021 Chinese Bridge Online Camp opened on Saturday at the University of International Business and Economic (UIBE) under the theme of "Russia-China Friendship."

Professors from UIBE and the Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH) met online with students taking part in the camp.

In his welcome speech to the Russian students, Wang Qiang, vice president of UIBE, said that as this year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation, their friendship has reached new heights, with greater demand for learning languages and cultures of the two nations.

The online camp will help the students from Russia learn more about China, and deepen their friendship with Chinese people, Wang added.

Olga Pavlenko, first vice-rector of RSUH, echoed Wang's view, saying that the camp provides a rare opportunity for Russian students to learn about Chinese culture and economy. She also expressed her school's support for the event, and her hope that the two schools can strengthen cooperation.

Two Russian students shared their personal experiences of learning Chinese and stories with Beijing and UIBE during the event, expressing their love for Chinese and China.

Hosted by UIBE, the camp attracted the participation of 196 Chinese language learners from Russia. The seven-day event includes online exchanges, lectures from experts, video tours and language courses.
