China's capital city Beijing will start the construction of 11 urban parks by the end of this year, including roughly 280 hectares of trees and vegetation, according to a new round of afforestation plan.
The 11 parks will be located in six districts including Haidian, Tongzhou, Fengtai, and Chaoyang. Two urban parks will be built along the extensions of Beijing's central axis in Fengtai and Changping districts, as part of the city's efforts to improve the ecological environment of its south and north.
Moreover, an afforestation project with an area of 16.3 hectares will be launched in Beijing's sub-center, offering more green spaces to around 100,000 citizens in the area. The government will optimize spatial planning and add more functional zones, in a bid to offer a shared space for people all ages.
Additionally, a set of supporting facilities including the spaces for sports activities and parking lots will be constructed to bring more convenience and comfort to citizens.
