Despite the COVID-19 cluster reported in recent days, the epidemic situation in Beijing has generally remained under control, and the city will continue to implement tight preventive measures, said Xu Hejian, spokesperson for the Beijing municipal government, at a press briefing on Monday.

Starting from Nov. 17, all people traveling into Beijing must provide negative results of nucleic acid tests taken within 48 hours before arrival and a green health code. Those from counties (cities, districts, banners) that have land border crossings are advised not to travel to Beijing if not necessary, Xu said.

According to Xu, the holding of national conferences, trainings, and other activities in Beijing will be strictly controlled. Closed-loop management will be implemented during the periods of these activities.

Additionally, Beijing will improve its regular nucleic acid testing mechanism and carry out sweeping testing in areas of potential risks, Xu added.
