The Shenzhen Education Bureau has sent several inspection teams to the districts' education bureaus, schools, and training agencies citywide to see how the "double reductio" policy has been implemented. The policy, rolled out by central authorities more than four months ago, aims to ease the burden of excessive homework and off-campus tutoring on students undergoing the nine-year free compulsory education.

As part of the policy evaluation, the inspectors visited several schools and extracurricular tutoring centers in Luohu last month.

The inspectors listened to reports from schools and the education bureau of the district, checked relevant materials, and communicated with teachers and students for their feedback on the policy.

In his report, Luohu Education Bureau Chief Yin Gang explained in details the achievements and challenges during the process of implementing the double reduction measures and a future work plan.

Yin pointed out that Luohu coordinates efforts of all stakeholders to ensure the implementation of the policy meets the intended effects of easing the students' burdens and improving the teaching quality.

The inspectors spoke highly of Luohu's performances in this regard, extolling that the district combines easing burden at school and strengthening oversight out of school to make sure the policy is strictly conducted.

The inspectors also visited several training agencies in the district to see whether maladies afflicting the off-campus tutoring sector still exist, such as fraudulent fees, unlicensed training, false advertising. The inspectors emphasized that all training institutions should standardize their operations and charges in accordance with relevant regulations, further optimize training arrangements, and constantly upgrade their teacher teams so as to better adapt to the changes brought by the double reduction reform.
