One person was killed and multiple injured after a bus fell into a river ditch in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality on Wednesday, local authorities have said.
The accident occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m. when the coach, carrying 20 people, rolled into the roadside river ditch in Miaoba town of Chengkou County, according to the county's publicity department.
One person died after emergency medical treatment failed, and one person suffered severe injuries.
Both the rescue operation and an investigation into the cause of the accident are underway.
The 49-seat coach was operating on a long-distance bus service between the downtown area of Chongqing and the remote Chengkou County nearly 400 kilometers away.
