China's top legislature schedules standing committee session

The Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) will convene its 36th session from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2 in Beijing.

The decision was made on Friday at a meeting of the Council of Chairpersons of the NPC Standing Committee, which was presided over by Li Zhanshu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee.

According to the proposed agenda, lawmakers at the session will review a draft law on anti-telecom and online fraud, and draft revisions to the Law on Quality and Safety of Agricultural Products and the Wild Animals Protection Law.

The Standing Committee session is also expected to review the bills on draft revisions to the Counter-Espionage Law and a draft law on ecological conservation on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Other documents to be submitted at the session include reports on the implementation of the national economic and social development plan and on the implementation of this year's budget.
