Flocks of black-necked cranes were spotted at the lakeside in Madoi county of Qinghai's Golog Tibetan autonomous prefecture on Monday. As the source region of the Yellow River, Madoi is home to 5,849 lakes in various sizes and is dubbed the "County of a Thousand Lakes."

The Sanjiangyuan National Park contains the headwaters of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River, and the Lancang River, and is a major wildlife habitat. Its environment has improved significantly with a noted increase in wild animals through the efforts of the local government.
