National Aquatics Center turns off lights to mark Earth Hour 2023

The National Aquatics Center in Beijing turned off its iconic blue lights from 8:30-9:30 p.m. on March 25 in recognition of this year's Earth Hour, marking the venue's 15th time participating in the event.
The gesture demonstrates the dual-Olympic venue's commitment to addressing global climate change and supporting energy conservation, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
Earth Hour, a flagship global environmental movement initiated by the World Wildlife Fund, was introduced to China in 2009. The National Aquatics Center was among the first group of Olympic venues to participate in the movement, aiming to raise public awareness about adopting green and low-carbon lifestyles.
As a host for both water and ice sports competitions during the 2008 Summer and 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the venue is committed to maximizing its Olympic legacy and contributing to the sustainable future that our climate needs.
