Li Bin meets with HKSAR Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu

Li Bin, vice chairwoman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and chairwoman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation (CSCLF), met with John Lee Ka-chiu, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), at Government House in Hong Kong on Sept. 14.

Li Bin expressed gratitude to the Hong Kong SAR government for their support for the CSCLF's endeavors. She noted that this year marks the 130th anniversary of Soong Ching Ling's birth, and they are organizing the Exhibition of Soong Ching Ling's Life in Hong Kong. The aim of this exhibition is to illuminate Soong Ching Ling's unwavering patriotism and her lifelong dedication to the country. It particularly aims to connect with the youth in Hong Kong, in order to enhance their cultural identity, national identity, and sense of belonging to the country. Li noted that, under the strong leadership of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Hong Kong has entered a crucial stage of moving from chaos to stability and then to greater prosperity. Li said that moving forward, the foundation will continue to promote the enduring spirit of Sun Yat-sen and Soong Ching Ling, enabling the youth of Hong Kong to gain a comprehensive understanding of the history and culture of their motherland, enhancing their sense of national pride and commitment, ultimately contributing to the long-term stability and the practice of the One Country, Two Systems policy.

John Lee Ka-chiu extended a warm welcome to Li Bin and her delegation in Hong Kong. He expressed his appreciation for hosting the Exhibition of Soong Ching Ling's Life in the city, recognizing the exhibition's focus on her exceptional contributions to the nation and its people. He believes that this exhibition will play a pivotal role in nurturing a sense of patriotism and fostering love for Hong Kong, particularly among the city's youth. Lee emphasized the HKSAR government's unwavering commitment to youth development and patriotic education. They have developed a blueprint for youth development, aiming to facilitate their integration into the national overall development. Moving forward, the government anticipates strengthening collaboration and exchange with the CSCLF, with the shared goal of contributing to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Also present at the meeting were Yin Zonghua, deputy director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR; Shen Beili, vice chairperson of the CSCLF; along with Wu Weishan, director of the National Art Museum of China; Wu Xiangping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; Ye Cong, an oceanaut of the Jiaolong manned deep-sea submersible and chief designer of deep-sea manned submersible Fendouzhe; and Xie Jun, a chess grandmaster and vice president of the International Chess Federation, who are participating in the “Master Lectures for Children” event currently taking place in Hong Kong.
