President Hu Jintao says the Tibet Autonomous Region must maintain social stability and push forward reform.
He made the remarks when he joined the deliberation of a government work report from the Tibetan delegation to the National People's Congress. The President stressed several priorities -- including fostering the region's industries, modern agriculture, animal husbandry, infrastructure, and environmental protection.
He then called for greater government funding of public service programs, and remote regions in Tibet. Other officials, including top legislator Wu Bangguo, and Premier Wen Jiabao, also joined discussions with other NPC delegations.
