Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo delivered a work report [highlights] of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), or the top legislative body, at the fifth session of the 11th NPC Friday afternoon. 

Chinese leaders Hu Jintao, Wen Jiabao, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang attended the third plenary meeting of the 10-day session with nearly 3,000 lawmakers in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

China continues to strengthen legislative work

Over the past year, the NPC Standing Committee enacted amendments to a number of important laws, including the Criminal Procedure Law.

Motions, suggestions from lawmakers gain positive feedbacks
