What is expected to be the first stand-along testing base for unmanned vehicles is being established in northern Guangdong.

Online news outlet southcn.com is quoting Tu Gaokun, an official with the Economic and Information Commission of Guangdong.

He says companies involved include Huawei, Alibaba and Tencent.

Unmanned driving has been a key word during this year's "Two Sessions," with the testing of unmanned vehicles to be codified into the law, according to comments made by Chinese Transport Minister Li Xiaopeng.
