Geely recalls sedans over assembly defect

BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- A unit of China's Geely Holding Group is recalling 55,018 sedans over defects in the assembly process that may lead to fuel leakages, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said Friday.

The administration said in a statement that Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacture Co., a unit of Geely, will recall its Jingang and Jinying sedan models manufactured between Jan. 3, 2009, and Nov. 30, 2011. ( A defect in the fuel tank assembly may lead to oil leakages and pose safety hazards, according to the statement.

The producer will address the problem by replacing parts free of charge for affected car owners. Enditem
