BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- "Chinese Democracy," a theoretical study authored by a Chinese major general, has recently been published in English, offering Western readers an insight into democracy in China.

The result of years of painstaking research by Liu Dingxin, former political commissar at the People's Liberation Army's Hainan Provincial Military Sub-command, the book won acclaim from domestic readers and analysts after being published in Chinese in March by the publishing house under the Party School of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

The English version has been published by the UK-based New Classic Press, Xinhua learned from the book's launch event held Saturday.

Starting with an all-sided dialectical analysis on Western democracy, the book delves deep into the origins and definitions of democracy and centralism and reviews their development by the CPC in China.

It also discusses topics that concern analysts the most, namely the reform of China's political system and the development of democracy in China. Enditem
