Sinkeldam wins eighth stage of 2012 Tour of Hainan

Dutch rider Ramon Sinkeldam from Team Argos-Shimano braved the rain to clock 3:07:52 to win the eighth stage of the 2012 Tour of Hainan on Saturday, when Dmitriy Gruzdev from Astana Pro Team kept the yellow jersey.

Alexander Serebryakov from Team type-1 Sanofi was the second and retained the green jersey for leading the sprints classfication. Third place went to defending champion Valentin Iglinskiy from Astana Pro Team.

Leading the general individual classifications in 31:51:46, Gruzdev kept the yellow jersey and Wang Meiyin from Hengxiang Cycling Team kept the polka dot jersey when the mountain phase came to the end on Saturday.

Winner of the stage, Sinkeldam told the press all the riders were careful in the stage because of the rain. "I began to pick up speed in the sprint phase, it was lucky for me to win the race."

Almost 110 riders participated in the stage starting from Wuzhishan in heart of Hainan to Sanya which located in southern Hainan.

For a distance of 103.2km, the last stage circling Sanya will be competed on Sunday. Endi
