More Chinese cities saw home prices rise in October from September amid the government's dogged efforts to curb property prices, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Sunday.

In October, 35 cities, up from 31 in September, out of a statistical pool of 70 major cities recorded higher new home prices than a month earlier, the data showed.

On a month-on-month basis, new home prices in 17 cities declined in October, down from 24 in September, while those in the other 18 cities remained unchanged, the data showed.

On a year-on-year basis, more cities saw drops in new home prices last month, with 56 out of the 70 cities witnessing price declines, up from 55 in September. Prices either rose or stayed flat in the remaining 14 cities. Endi
