China on Thursday expressed condolences toward the Philippines for the deaths caused by the arrival of Typhoon Bopha.

"We wish to convey sincere sympathy to people in the Philippines who are affected by Typhoon Bopha and families of those killed in the typhoon," Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said at a daily press briefing.

Typhoon Bopha, the strongest storm to hit the Philippines this year, triggered landslides and flooding in the country's Davao region.

"We hope people in the affected region will get through this difficult time and rebuild their homes soon," Hong said. Endi
