China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) said Tuesday that combined oil and gas output in its overseas projects reached 50.35 million tonnes of oil equivalent this year as of December 17.

It was the second year for the country's largest oil and gas producer to see its overseas oil and gas production exceed 50 million tonnes of oil equivalent. However, the figure was slightly lower than 51.7 million tonnes last year.

The company's overseas operation in the past year has been under the pressure of the global economic downturn, turmoil in some oil states, and tight policies in resource countries, the company said.

The figure equals to the annual production capacity of CNPC's domestic Daqing oilfield, the country's largest oil and gas deposit.

In comparison, China produced 204 million tonnes of crude oil and 102.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas domestically last year, according to BP Statistical Review of World Energy.

Total oil and gas output of CNPC's overseas projects stood at 100.15 million tonnes of oil equivalent in the past year, including 86.21 million tonnes of crude oil and 17.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas, the CNPC said.

CNPC, the parent company of the listed PetroChina Co., operates 35 oil and gas production projects outside China. Endi
