China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) announced Wednesday that combined oil and gas output in its subsidiary Changqing oil field hit a record-high 45.05 million tonnes of oil equivalent this year.

As of Wednesday, the Changqing oil field produced 22.31 million tonnes of crude oil, accounting for 11.1 percent of the country's total output, while its natural gas output amounted to 28.54 billion cubic meters, 25 percent of the sector's overall production, the CNPC said.

CNPC, the parent company of Shanghai-listed PetroChina Co., is China's largest oil and gas producer, and its Changqing oil field has operations in five Chinese provinces and autonomous regions, including Gansu, Shaanxi, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Shanxi.

The company said the oil field has achieved key technological breakthroughs while developing oil reserves amid the tough geological conditions of the Ordos Basin.

The oil field aims to increase its output to 50 million tonnes of oil equivalent in 2015, including 26 million tonnes of crude oil and 35 billion cubic meters of gas. Endi
