A mainland-written book on Taiwan's history was published on Friday in Beijing.

The two-volume work, compiled by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), narrates the intact history of Taiwan, especially the island's modern history, on the basis of academic results and analysis of historical documents, CASS vice president Wu Yin said.

According to Wu, the history of Taiwan is an indivisible part of Chinese history. But Taiwan's academic circle tends to emphasize Taiwan as an separate subject in its research, to which mainland counterparts need to respond from a correct perspective of academic theory.

The book will help spread correct knowledge on Taiwan, Wu hopes.

It refutes the "Taiwan-independence" fallacy in theory as well as in historical facts and provides historic grounds for understanding that the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China, added the CASS vice president. Endi
