Senior Chinese official Liu Yunshan on Thursday visited performers and off-stage staff preparing for the upcoming annual Spring Festival gala.

The annual TV feast will be broadcast live in various languages to the world on Feb. 9, the eve of Chinese Lunar New Year.

Liu, a Standing Committee member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau, encouraged performers to perfect their performance and spread the festive atmosphere to audiences across the world.

The gala, titled "new Spring of China," will highlight various performing arts including songs, dance, martial arts, acrobatics, magic and instrumentals.

Rural magicians, migrant workers as well as elite artists from around the world will perform in the grand gathering. Endi
