Chinese President Xi Jinping Monday expressed his confidence that the country will sustain relatively high economic growth.

China is still in the strategic period for development and it will go upward rather than downward, said Xi when meeting with representatives of about 30 well-known enterprises from China and overseas at the ongoing Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference 2013.

China is going through industrialization and urbanization while its information industry is developing fast and agriculture is being modernized, which brings about big potential in domestic market, he said.

However, the country will not purely pursue high-speed economic growth, he said, adding that it will focus more on the quality and efficiency of economic development.

The country will put more efforts in green development, recycled development and low-carbon development, he said.

It needs to balance between the industrial development and green, sustainable development, he said.
