Xinhua, China's state news agency, is using the latest mobile technology to reach out to citizen journalists for up-to-the-minute coverage of an ever-changing China.

With mobile devices in hand, China's avid legions of citizen reporters can readily share news leads and offer comments on current events on a set of multimedia platforms Xinhua has dubbed "iFocus."

"iFocus" includes a newly launched mobile application, accounts on the popular instant messaging service WeChat and Twitter-like Sina Weibo, as well as a number of news feeds on some of China's biggest mobile news portals.

An Android-based mobile application is the flagship platform where digital users are encouraged to share text, photos and audio and video footage of news value and interest to the public.

Xinhua's thousands of reporters around the globe are ready to follow these leads and provide quality news reporting in response to the public's need for knowledge.

Via iFocus, Xinhua integrates its news professionalism with grassroots voices in an effort to tackle credibility issues surrounding user-generated content.

An 82-year-old state news agency, Xinhua is transforming itself from a one-way news provider to a fully digital news organization in an era when interactions with readers and viewers have never been easier thanks to mobile technology. It is revolutionizing the traditional wire service with a digital turn.

Users can download the mobile application at http://xhne.ws/3T4nU or subscribe to the "wobaodao" official account on WeChat, a Tencent brand. Endi
