Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Tuesday pledged to advance the constant, sound and stable development of strategic partnership with Venezuela.

Li made the remarks while meeting with Venezuelan National Assembly president Diosdado Cabello in Beijing.

Cabello is also the first vice president of the ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV).

Li said Cabello's visit fully demonstrated the great importance that the new Venezuelan administration has attached to developing relations between the two countries as well as ties between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the PSUV.

The Chinese vice president recalled his visit to Venezuela in May. During the trip, Li had candid communication with Venezuela's new leadership on bilateral relations, the development path and governance experiences.

"The visit has left a deep impression on my mind," he said.

Venezuela has beautiful scenery and enjoys exceptional advantages in natural resources, he said, adding that the country has a great development potential.

The Venezuelan people are committed to exploring a development path in keeping with their national conditions and have achieved stunning results, according to Li.

China and Venezuela enjoy profound friendship and are highly complementary in their economies, he said, noting that bilateral relations have promising prospects.

They have seen rapid development since the two countries established diplomatic ties 39 years ago, especially after they forged a strategic partnership of common development in 2001.

The two countries have effectively cooperated in the areas of energy, science and technology, mining, infrastructure, agriculture and housing, said the vice president.

They have become good friend with mutual trust and good partners with mutually beneficial cooperation, he told his guest.

The new Chinese leadership attaches great importance to ties with Venezuela and will continue to view the relations from a strategic height and a long-term perspective, Li said.

He continued that the CPC is willing to further promote multi-level exchanges with the PSUV and welcomes the PSUV to send cadres to visit China, so that the two sides can learn from each other.

Li said the youth exchanges are the future and hope for bilateral relations. He called on the two parties to promote friendly exchanges between youth, so that bilateral friendship will be passed on from generation to generation.

Cabello said Venezuela views China as its firm friend and makes ties with China a priority in its foreign policy.

Venezuela will actively boost pragmatic cooperation with China in all areas, so as to benefit people of the two countries, he said. Endi
