The Internet regulation in China's pilot free trade zone (FTZ) in Shanghai will be conducted in accordance with laws, with no special treatment, the FTZ authorities said Friday evening.

The management committee of the Shanghai FTZ said that, the added-value telecommunication services will be opened up in the zone in accordance with the overall plan on the FTZ, which was issued on Friday.

On the premises of safeguarding the network information security, the overseas-funded enterprises are permitted to operate some particular forms of added-value telecommunication services, the management committee said.

And those that "break through" the current administrative regulations should be seek approvals from the State Council.

The State Council approved the pilot decision on July 3. Covering almost 29 square km, the zone will be modeled on existing free trade businesses in the country's economic hubs. Endi
