Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on Wednesday met with Foreign Minister of South Sudan Barnaba Marial Benjamin on ties.

Yang said the relations between China and South Sudan have developed well with a broad prospect. China is willing to work with South Sudan to lift the bilateral friendship to a new level, he said.

China has paid high attention to the situation in South Sudan, and has been working for the reconciliation of all parties and promoting peace talks, said Yang.

China hopes both sides of the conflict could earnestly implement the cease-fire deal and insist on promoting peace talks so as to realize peace and stability at an early date, he said.

Benjamin appreciated China's generous support and assistance, saying South Sudan is willing to push forward the comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral ties together with China.

He said South Sudan will actively respond to relevant proposals of the international community including China and solve disputes via political dialogue.

Benjamin is visiting from Aug. 18 to 22 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi. He held talks with Wang on Tuesday. Endi
