China blocks 434 substandard food imports in Nov.

Chinese authorities uncovered 434 batches of substandard imported food in November, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) on Tuesday.

Incorrect labeling, poor quality and microorganisms were the major problems found with the imports, which came from 37 countries or regions, AQSIQ spokesperson Luo Fangping said.

The substandard food was mainly cakes and biscuits, beverages and grain products, Luo said.

The AQSIQ also uncovered 32 batches of substandard cosmetics.

The products were either sent back or destroyed and did not enter the Chinese market. Endi
