Chrysler launches recall over airbag faults

Chrysler will recall 14,046 of its 2014 and 2015 Jeep Cherokee SUVs in China's mainland to correct a software problem that may cause the vehicles' airbags to deploy inadvertently, the country's top quality watchdog said on Friday.

The affected vehicles were manufactured between Jan. 1, 2013 and Nov. 19, 2014, according to a notice released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Chrysler said the problem, effecting the side-curtain and seat-mounted side airbags, could lead to accidents.

The company has promised to repair the fault free of charge. Endi
