Police have arrested 29 gang members for producing and dealing drugs in southwest China's Sichuan Province, they announced on Tuesday.

Police in Sichuan's Deyang City also apprehended 14.63 kg of methamphetamine and the stimulant "magu", and 75 kg of ephedrine, a major drug making raw material. Three guns, four vehicles and a large amount of equipment for drug production were confiscated.

The bust, which took place on Friday, is the culmination of an operation dating back to August 2013, when police began tracking a drugs ring with a leader surnamed Zhang which had been producing drugs in Deyang and selling them in both Sichuan and the northern Shanxi Province.
