Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Tuesday met with a delegation from the Liberal Party of Australia, one of the country's ruling parties.

As important countries in Asia and Pacific region, China and Australia are complementary with huge potential for cooperation, Li said, calling on both countries to build an all-round and multi-tier cooperation structure and boost comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Communist Party of China would like to work with Liberal Party of Australia to maintain good exchanges, share experience on state governance and promote cooperation in all sectors, Li said.

Richard Alston, federal president of Liberal Party of Australia, underscores the importance Australia attaches to developing ties with China.

Australia supports China's proposal of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road initiatives and would like to work more closely with China to seek common prosperity, said Alston, who is leading an 8-member delegation to China.

After Beijing, Alston will visit southwest China's Sichuan province and south China's Guangdong province. Endi
