DPR Korea edged China 3-2 here on Tuesday in the EAAF East Asian Cup women's soccer tournament, shattering the host's bid to claim the title.

DPR Korea took an early lead just five minutes into the game as striker Kim Yun MI seized China's turnover in defense and drilled home in a close range.

Wi Jong Sim helped DPR Korea double their lead in the 24th minute when her shot was deflected into net by China's defender Li Dongna.

China did not have a decent strike until Wang Shuang's shot was saved by DPR Korea's goalkeeper Hong Myong Hui.

The hosts pulled one goal back as Li Dongna converted a spot-kick in the 30th minute.

China hit the equalizer when Liu Jun's shot was blocked, only for Wang Shanshan to rifle home the loose ball in the 52nd minute.

Wang Shanshan's goal boosted China's confidence as they strengthened attack trying to reverse the momentum, but Wi Jong Sim's brace helped the guests restore the lead and seal the win in the 69th minute. The midfielder shook off China's defense and her powerful left-footed shot beat China's goalkeeper Wang Fei again.

"Thanks to my players. They have tried their best. We showcased our tactic and mental outlook despite the loss. We had a good second-half, but fitness problems after 60 minutes limited us," said China coach Hao Wei. Endi
