Chinese Academy of Social Sciences announced its worldwide think tank rankings on Tuesday, putting Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in the top spot.

The United States has the biggest share of the top 10 list, with the Heritage Foundation ranking in third, the Brookings Institute sixth and the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars the eighth, according to a report released by the academy's Chinese Evaluation Center for Humanities and Social Sciences.

Bruegel was ranked the second, Chatham House the fourth, Stockholm International Peace Research Institute the fifth, the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung the seventh, Development Research Center of the State Council the ninth, and the International Institute for Strategic Studies the 10th.

According to the rankings, nine Chinese institutions made it into the top 100 list.

Jin Linbo, director of the Chinese Evaluation Center for Humanities and Social Sciences, said the think tanks were rated based on their attractiveness, management and influence.

To be objective and fair, the center did not include the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on the list, said Jin. Endi
