The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region of north China will see two or three periods of heavy smog later this month, a China Meteorological Administration (CMA) official said on Thursday.

Smog is likely to shroud parts of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei from Dec. 8 to Dec. 10 and from Dec. 14 to Dec. 16, though it won't be as severe as the air pollution this week, said Xue Jianjun, a senior researcher with the CMA.

The region experienced its worst air pollution of the year early this week, with atmospheric conditions and high humidity helping trap pollutants.

The smog was dispersed by cold air on Tuesday night, but the cold front will be weak in the coming 10 days, according to the CMA. Endi
