Yellow alert issued for smog in Shanghai

Shanghai's meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for smog that will last until Tuesday noon.

The city's environmental authority has banned some construction sites over dust concerns as the city experienced moderate smog on Monday.

China has a four-tier warning system for extreme weather, with red being the most serious, followed by orange, yellow and blue.

The public has been warned to take protective measures when engaging in outdoor activities and those that suffer from respiratory diseases are advised to stay indoors. Endi
