National snowboard halfpipe championship kicks off in N. China

A five-day national snowboard halfpipe championship kicked off on Tuesday in Zhalantun, a city of northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

   The 122 skiers of 11 teams, from Liaoning, Xinjiang, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Inner Mongolia and other provinces or regions, will compete in men's and women's snowboard and freestyle skiing events.

   The championship also serves as a qualification for China's 13th Winter Games that is schedualed from Jan. 20-31, 2016 in Xinjiang. Endi
