Cuba has detected a third case of imported Zika virus infection on a health specialist who worked in Venezuela, the Health Ministry said Tuesday.

The laboratory technician, 43, returned to Cuba's eastern province of Camaguey from Venezuela on March 1, and began to have a headache. He presented rash in the thorax, the ministry said in a news release.

He was found Zika-positive on Monday. He has received epidemiological and vector control measures targeted for Zika and was in good condition, according to the ministry.

Cuba reported its first imported Zika case on March 2 on a Venezuelan doctor who is in Cuba for a graduate degree. A day later, a nurse, who returned after working in Venezuela, was found infected with Zika.

Cuban President Raul Castro has launched a national campaign to prevent the spread of the virus, including the mobilization of over 9,000 soldiers and 1,000 police officers to support the sanitation and fumigation in the country. Endi
