Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with visiting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and attended a reception to welcome him on Wednesday evening.

"China and India are partners for cooperation and development and share much more common interests than differences. China views India's development as opportunities for ourselves," Li told Mukherjee, who is on a four-day state visit to China.

China is willing to work with India to foster a closer development partnership to achieve cooperative, inclusive and common development, Li said.

Li hailed the progress of big projects in railways and industrial parks and the cultural exchanges between the two countries, adding that bilateral trade has set a new record by surpassing 70 billion U.S. dollars in 2015.

Li said he hoped both sides strengthen mutual trust, properly manage differences and expand practical cooperation and traditional friendship.

Mukherjee said India is ready to cooperate more with China in all fields and promote the friendship between the people. Endi
