Influenza claimed two more lives last week in Taiwan, bringing the number of flu-related deaths to 12, the island's disease control authority said on Tuesday.

During November 6-12, 30 new cases of severe complications related to influenza were confirmed, the Centers for Disease Control said in a statement on its website.

Since July, there have been 117 severe flu cases.

The two people who died both contracted H3N2 virus and most of the patients had not received flu vaccination.

The agency noted vaccination is the most effective way to prevent flu, urging high-risk groups such as seniors, infants and chronically ill patients to get their shots as soon as possible. Endi
