RABAT, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Moroccan authorities have raised security vigilance after Barcelona terror attack, local media reported on Saturday.

Morocco has tightened security measures, especially in the northern region near the Spanish enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla, said Al Massae daily.

Vigilance was also raised in the country's entry points to thwart infiltration of potential terror suspects to the country, it added.

As part of the security measures following the attack, Morocco has tightened control around Spanish diplomatic missions alongside Spanish language and cultural institutions, it noted.

Moroccan-Spanish security cooperation has further intensified after the attack, the report said, adding that Moroccan intelligence have provided their Spanish counterparts with information on the suspects with Moroccan nationality.

A van on Thursday drove into pedestrians in the Las Ramblas area, just over one kilometer from Canada's consulate in Barcelona, which left 13 people dead and more than 100 others injured.

Hours later, a second attack occurred in the resort town of Cambrils southwest of Barcelona, killing one woman. Spanish police have classified the incident as a terrorist attack. Enditem
